Telecom, Space Commerce & Cybersecurity

THE THESIS

Mobile technology contributes $240 billion a year — 7.8% of GDP — to Africa's economy, yet almost a billion Africans live under a mobile signal and cannot afford to use it. Africa's space economy is worth about $25 billion, 4% of the world's, with 69 satellites in orbit, roughly one in four launched on a foreign commercial rocket. Cybercrime makes up more than 30% of reported crime in West and East Africa, and the AU's cybersecurity convention took nine years to enter into force. The AR builds the networks, the satellites and the shield: one spectrum, one telecom authority, sovereign space commerce and a cyber defence that matches the continent's digital ambition.
